Saving Waikato Cathedral

 

Like many of our historic buildings, the Waikato Cathedral has received an official earthquake strengthening notice which states that without serious structural attention, over the next two decades, it will be closed.

Destruction of the structure, of the building itself, would be a huge loss for the city, the community, and for those who worship here, a loss of much greater proportions than most of us are aware.

With our architects PAUA and Beca engineering, we have developed a design that will both strengthen the building and enhance its facilities. Our fundraising officially launched on, 26 May 2024. We are ready to enter the final stage of detailed designs and are raising funds so that the work can continue.
