RELATED INFORMATION AND
Policies
Our church and diocese are committed to ensuring our communities of faith are safe and life-giving for all people. To help with this the diocese has set some policies for all churches.
The most significant of which is the safeguarding policy, the documentation for which is below.
Safeguarding Policy and Supporting Documents
Within our commitment to ensuring our communities of faith are safe and life-giving, we have a particular responsibility for children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
The clergy, vestry, and leaders of our church have adopted and implemented the following documents to help keep every member of our church safe.
As a cathedral community we have developed additional policies
Boundaries and behaviour
Scripture proclaims: "You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy" (Lev 19.2).
In all that we do as Christians, we aspire to the example that Jesus Christ has set for us. At times, this can be extremely challenging. To help licence holders navigate the demands of pastoral ministry, the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia, of which we are a part, has carefully defined the expectation of those who act on behalf of the church (Title D) and developed an independent complaints process (Ministry Standards) so that all matters of concern can be fully explored and addressed.
View Title D at anglican.org.nz or view Title D at ministrystandards.org
All those who hold licences from the Bishop of the Diocese and those who hold office within our churches have agreed to, and are required to, abide by the standards outlined in Title D above.
If you believe that a licence holder or office holder has behaved in a way contrary to the standards, you may wish to lay a complaint through our independent Ministry Standards Commission (MSC). The staff of the MSC will advise you and guide you through the process. They can be contacted through the Ministry Standards website.
