Christmas Lunch 2020

Updated: Oct 29, 2020

For several years the Hamilton Community Christmas Lunch has been organised by Hamilton Central Baptist and The Salvation Army, each church taking turns to host. Last year, however, the Salvation Army made a decision to step down from hosting the lunch in order to focus on other ministries. At the beginning of this year, the Anglican diocese of Waikato and Taranaki decided to step into the gap. The lunch provides a place for those who are alone to celebrate Christmas in community, and feeds about 200 guests and volunteers. As we prepare for this lunch, we will be looking for a large team of volunteers to help with a variety of different tasks. We will require help in the days leading up to Christmas (setting up, collecting items, food prep) and for the lunch itself (hosts, kitchen hands, clean-up crew). The work will be divided into shifts so the more helpers the better! We would also be grateful for food and monetary donations; a list of the items that are needed will be available, as well as details of when and where to deliver.
